Application Level Firewall

Title: A development of an Application Level Gateway based Firewall System. Abstract: This project aim to study and to develop an Application Level Gateway based Firewall System (a.k.a application layer firewall and application proxy firewall). They are software applications with two primary modes which are the proxy server and proxy client. The vast majority of existing Internet security solutions fails to inspect certain types of Internet traffic and applications, allowing numerous security vulnerabilities to be easily exploited. Such threats are gateway malicious code, P2P file sharing, instant messengers, adware/spyware applications and unauthorized traffic tunneling. The main purpose of this project is to develop a proxy server, which act as an Application Level Gateway (ALG) firewall, apply measures to prevent the threats, and learn more about network security.
