Hello, is the POS running Windows? why don't you do a software solution? I can do the hardware version (in a raspberry or beaglebone black), but I would need something to emulate the POS output locally, so basically if someone has already the hardware to do it, then I am not the best option :D

Hi, can you take into account the next remarks. Arduino with 8-bit controller can do the job. This kind of device can be easily done for RS232, but very hard for USB. Can you specify the model of the printer? Do you have the communication protocol spec for the POS-printer communication? There are printers that do not receive final amount for the sale, but only the PLU id and volume, and the price per unit is kept internally. So this device has to know also price per unit, for each PLU. Who will choose the wireless modem for the device? I prefer Cinterion MC55i. For internet connection, Arduino ethernet shield will be needed. And cost of the development may raise. If the database server has a complex protocol for communication, this also will raise the cost. What kind of products will be sale?

I can make you RS232 sniffer hardware which send data to internet... I will use .NET microframework board. If you need LAN version then hardware cost you around 70USD if you realy need gprs then kit will cost you around 180USD...

Hi, Recently, i have developed one product called, print to USB, means it can receive data from LPT Centronics printer port data on PCL format and can save it on disk. As the same way, i can modify it by RS232 to get that data and send it over PC and save it as PDF. What we have already developed is PC windows software, Driver, Circuit Layout, Firmware. Hi I have a both raspberry and Arduino board to start this . I have good experience with python, embedded C and can do this project by using a Raspi / Arduino in between the printer line . I need to know the baudrate at which data flows for this. Since u want the captured data on internet too , its better we can go for raspi which will save the cost of extra GSM board or ethernet Board . If you have more details about the printer , please Message me. Looking forward to work on this .
