Animated Title Sequence/Web banner Ad

For the Final Project you will develop a graphics package for your movie (from assign 2). The elements in the package are: • Animated Title Sequence • Animated Web Banner Ad • Lower Third Template Design & Corner Bug • DVD Menu • Playable DVD (using DVD Studio Pro or Encore) PARAMETERS I. Animated Title Sequence • Size: HDV 720p, 29.97, 1280 x 720 (this is a preset in Photoshop: New File Dialogue Box//Preset//Film/Video) • Duration: 30 seconds to 1 minute • Adhere to Title & Action Safe guides • Export from PS as a Quicktime movie file (.mov) • Import your .mov file into an editing program (e.g., FCP, Premiere) and add sound, then export for use in the DVD you will make (using DVD Studio Pro or Encore). II. Lower Thirds (these are for the dvd extras section – interviews with cast & crew) • Create a lower third design for a cast or crew member in your film • Size: HDV 720p, 29.97, 1280 x 720 (see above) • Adhere to Title & Action Safe guides • Make an Alpha Channel in Photoshop • Import the PSD files into your editing file (as above) and create a new sequence called “Lower Thirds.” Place your lower third design into this sequence and add a placeholder image (so that the type sits on top of an image). Export a one second Quicktime file, which you will import into your dvd build file. Turn in the layered Photoshop file, so that I can see your alpha channel work. III. Corner Bug • A corner bug is a small graphic that goes in the lower corner of a TV screen. They are not used in film packages, but they are an important part of motion graphics work, so we are including this element in your project work. For the graphic use your assignment 1 logo. • Size: HDV 720p, 29.97, 1280 x 720 (see step 1 above) • Adhere to Title & Action Safe guides • Make an Alpha Channel in Photoshop • Import the PSD file into your editing file (as in step 1) and create a new sequence called “Corner Bug.” Place your corner bug file into this sequence and add a placeholder image underneath it. Export a 1 second Quicktime file. Turn in the layered Photoshop file. IV. DVD Menu • Design a working menu for a playable DVD. The design should compliment your film poster design. • Size: HDV 720p, 29.97, 1280 x 720 (see step 1 above) • Adhere to Title & Action Safe guides • Import the PSD file into your DVD Authoring program (DVD Studio Pro or Encore) and create three workable “Play” buttons: for the title sequence, the lower third, and the corner bug. Your buttons should have normal and selected states. • Connect your “Play” buttons and make sure to test the links to make sure they are working correctly. Then burn your DVD disc. You will turn in this disk (a playable DVD). V. Animated Web Banner Ad • Design a web banner ad for your movie • Size: Choice either Leaderboard (728x90px) or Wide Skyscraper (160x600px) • Duration: 10-15 seconds • Ad should include some graphic element from your poster design, the film’s opening date and other promotional info (e.g., stars’ names, or promotional text). You want your banner ad to relate to the other design work in the package, but it should also exploit the web banner format. • Export as a looping animated GIF file Note: All of the design and creative content should be grounded on the movie poster and actual movie: Alphaville (Dir Jean-Luc Godard, 1965, 99 min) Eddie Constantine stars as intergalactic hero Lemmy Caution, on a mission to kill the inventor of fascist computer Alpha 60. This is a beginner assignment and not a lot of heavy techniques and skills are required. It should be fairly simple.
