Build a Linux 2.6.39.4 kernel compatible with TonidoPlug2

I have a TonidoPlug2 which is an ARM-powered plug computer. It uses u-boot and is running the Linux kernel that shipped with the device, which is a modified version of 2.6.31.8. The source for the modified version, with building instructions, is available here: [login to view URL]:buildplug2kernel It is not possible to run standard unmodified 'vanilla' versions of the Linux kernel on the TonidoPlug2 as they are incompatible with the device. Unfortunately I am not an expert in Linux kernels to understand the modifications that were made to the 2.6.31.8 kernel by Tonido to make it work on the TonidoPlug2 hardware. 2.6.31.8 is old and there are no newer modified kernels by Tonido available. However, I need to upgrade the kernel to 2.6.39.4. Although the standard unmodified 'vanilla' version of 2.6.39.4 is available from [login to view URL] ([login to view URL]), it does not boot on the TonidoPlug2 as it does not include the modifications by Tonido as outlined above. I need somebody who is proficient in building Linux kernels to analyze the differences between the source code of the unmodified 'vanilla' 2.6.31.8 and the modified version provided by Tonido, and then integrate those modifications into the 2.6.39.4 source so that I can build a TonidoPlug2-compatible Linux 2.6.39.4 kernel. All the modifications and modules by Tonido (as included in the modified source for 2.6.31.8) must be included in the 2.6.39.4 source deliverable, including the LED control. It is important to note that I am not willing to modify the u-boot parameters (e.g. mainlineLinux, which is 'no') and the new kernel must work without any such changes (Tonido's modified 2.6.31.8 works without any changes).
