This is a project to design and produce construction drawings for a set of 4 container jacks to raise up to 40 ton shipping containers. The concept must be low cost for mass production but safe in operation. It may either be Mechanical or hydraulic. The project will require the engineer to submit a costing estimate in advance stating whether hydraulic or mechanical with some component details. The 4 jacks must be able to be situated in place at the 4 corners of the container using a forklift truck. The 4 jacks need to be operated from one controller and function together without destabalizing the container. The lifting height needs to be such that the container can be removed from or placed on a truck, which also requires sufficient gap in order to steer a container under a raised container. The jacks need to be able to operate on various ground conditions.
