We currently run a photo library for about 10 photographers, it has over 250,000 images
They upload the images via ftp, then using a php cron job we process the images using imagemagick (convert to thumb etc) and insert into the mysql DB
What we are finding is when they are processing images (up to 100 at a time) it slows the server down.
We'd like to move all image upload/conversion/storage to AWS EC2 (for ftp upload and processing) and S3 (for storage/delivery) and need help setting this up.
1. We need the ftp accounts set up
2. The php script and cron job configured (to move the images after conversion to S3)
3. A mysql database set up to keep track of the images.
We also need to configure the system so that the thumbnail are public accessible through a browser, but the high res are only accessible via our current server for download after purchase.
Please let us know if you are able to help, or if you know of a better solution that suits this situation.
