A system is required to enable a researcher to keep a record of articles in which he/she is interested. Articles are magazine or newspaper articles, etc. The list of articles is to be cross-referenced to subjects. **Some suggested items the system should store are:-** **Article details** article code; title; first author; brief desc; source (e.g. journal name); volume (if relevant); date of publication; first page no. **Subject details** subject code; subject desc. **Cross-reference details** article code; subject code. **Essential Functions which must be in your system.** 1. List to printer of all article details relating to a given subject. 2. List to printer of all article details, ordered by date within source. **Normal Functions for a good system** 3. Maintain entries in the cross-reference file (automatically as items are added to the other files, and/or separately). 4. Insert/amend article details. 5. Add a new subject. **Extra Functions for an A grade system** 6. Display details (including subjects) of an article, given the article code. 7. Delete an article or a subject or a cross-reference, making clear to the user the consequences for other files. It may be appropriate for the system to refuse to delete certain items, unless other files are updated first. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform **Microsoft Access** will be used, merely by using the basic Access facilities. This will not be enough! - I am expected to do complex queries, own customising VBA code, intercepting Access error messages and replacing them with my own, passing parameters from one form to another (e.g. to avoid users having to repeat information).. I am expected to produce my own documentation describing the system, rather than relying on the many pages that Access produces automatically. One method of doing this is to document the processes, code, validations tables, etc., associated with each form. I am expected to make use of calls to the Microsoft jet database engine(this is a muist). To avoid this problem plan to get the database links done early and then build the forms and validation code etc. later. I also need to be able to print reports from VB. **_NOTE_** I only have VB.net.
