A visual basic implementation of LZSS or LZW algorithm without calling any other external DLL’s for the actual compression. The algorithms should preferably be implemented using a class modular basis. The program should be optimized for speed and should be stable in the compression process and produce minimum amount of errors. The program should be able to load a file to compress and also should be able to choose the file to decompress when necessary. A status bar providing such information such as original size, compressed size, ratio of compression and time spent on the compression is also required. Speed, stability and accuracy are vital elements in this program. So the program should be comparable to any commercially available software.
