We will create an application to manage the system of a cd shop.
Firstly we have the CD that might be a mix of singles or an album and is identified by an id, title, number of tracks, record company and description. A track has title, length, and the singer/s or band. A CD has at least 5 tracks.
This cd might belong to one single artist or a band. If a singer it is identified by an id, name, surname, nickname (if any) and if band it is identified by id and name.
CDs have Category that is identified by an id and description that includes genres of music (ex. alternative, rock, r&b, pop etc).
We have also a branches that are identified by an id, name, address, contact phone number and contact email.
Our shop has its own customers that are identified by id, name, surname, birthday, email.
In the database all CDs available is a branch shop are stored and number of copies. Moreover, for each customer we keep trace of the CD and the branch where he/she bought it.

I need more information about this project.
Which language do you prefer to implement this CD shop management application? If you do not care, I plan to use java.
There should be several tables to store CD/track data, customers' data and business trace data.
When the shop buy/sell CD, above tables will be modified by the application to update data.
Do you need a GUI to show the data or just command line to operate?

Hi there , I'm delphi coder I used to do similar jobs just like the one you have mentioned I mean writing database driven application using the latest technologies like FireDac,ADO,Zeos and so forth with the latest RDBMS like ACCESS,MYSQL,SQLSERVER,FireBird now regarding to your project which is about managing a CD shop well the database could be created using either an openSource or a comercial RDBMS like the one mentioned previously and creating tables for an Album,Track,Singer,Category and so forth besides I will create a good-looking User Interface to access to this database and add and modify and delete for the ease of access besides we can make a user access system with privileges to allow a specific users to tamper with data and more ather features check out my portfolio for my recent application after all it is your verdict ^^
