We have a native C++ application that supports a number of circuit board models and are interested in adding support for an Arduino circuit board which will control pulsing relays on a connected relay board. We wish to outsource this task. The Arduino circuit board to be used is the Arduino Mega 2560 R3 ( [login to view URL] ). An example of a relay board to connect with would be a 8 channel relay module board ( [login to view URL] ). We would welcome any feedback from the freelancer if they have a more preferable alternative. From the project budget, the freelancer will be provided with the funds to purchase their own Arduino and relay boards which they will use for the project and may keep afterwards. Using the boards listed above, these come to an estimated total cost of £55. Please make sure to include such a price in your bid. You will be provided with the source code for an existing circuit board implementation and you will be expected to use the same interface. You will write both the firmware for the circuit board to interact with the relay board and the software for the C++ implementation. For proof of implementation, you will be required to create a simple native C++ MFC application with buttons that will control connecting to and altering the state of the relay board. The sample application must be created using Visual Studio 2012. The Arduino side must be programmed using the Arduino IDE. You will be expected to produce 32-bit and 64-bit debug and release build versions of code. You will be expected to produce a high quality of code and to adhere to our coding standards. You will be expected to submit your code for review prior to its being accepted. We will test using 64-bit Windows 7. You will be expected to provide all source code for this project eg source code for creating and controlling the circuit board and relays and the sample application. We will be available during UK office hours and you will be expected to be able to work on this project without excessive amounts of supervision. I would also like to add that we would see this work as the beginning of a number of such projects over time, so we are interested in finding someone to whom we could regularly outsource projects.

My name is Jeremy Trammell and I represent a group of developers and designers in Portland, Oregon, in the U.S. We have extensive experience with the Arduino platform, as well as with Windows desktop application development, and we would be happy to assist you with this port of your code. As I understand it you want us to develop a (static or dynamic?) Windows library that you can link your applications to which will communicate with the Arduino to control the relays, yes? Or did you just want a demo application demonstrating the procedure, and no need for a library encapsulating the process? This, in addition to the firmware on the Arduino itself, of course. We already have the necessary hardware on hand to begin immediately and can quite likely have a release candidate for you within a week.

Our price 750 includes the Arduino Mega 2560 Rev3 and the 8 channel relay (we will buy it locally and it will take up to 2-3 days including shipment) So, we are ready to start. Hi, I have worked on lot of projects like this, controlling relays using arduino/raspberry pi. Controlling app could be a native application or web application to control the relays globally using internet (using raspberry pi/arduino). I have implemented and using this project that is controlling 8 relay board using arduino. Only difference is I have implemented it using Arduino Uno board that has got 14 digital I/O pin and sufficient to control 8 relay board. I believe you choose Mega board for some other extended functionality. Two stage coding required, 1. Arduino programming to drive the relay board, send/receive control information over serial port 2. Windows VC++ MFC programming to establish communication with Arduino over serial port and control it. Additionally we need to install usb to serial driver on Windows as serial port is emulated over USB. This driver comes with Arduino IDE by default. I haven't included hardware cost with my bidding. The reason for this is freelancer deducts 10% fee on project cost. But it will deduct 10% from hardware cost also as it will not distinguish cost of hardware vs cost for service. Also I have Arduino Uno spare board that I can use if you don't issue with that. But I need to get 8 relay board as my existing board is mounted inside a control board. I can buy one here and I can take care of expenses for this as the hardware will be with me. If you want to use Mega board for dev, then I will inform the cost. Thanks!

Hi, I can provide you with the arduino firmware, the C++ circuit board implementation and the MFC app code to test them. Source Code would be liek reading in english if i use my own programming style (so that understanding and maintainance of code are much easier); Or if you want me to follow the coding standards already used in your code i can do that too and add engouh comments to make the code easy to understand and maintain. I use Widnows 7 64bits and Visual Studio 2012 for the c++ and MFC development, and i will provide both 32bits and 64bits version of the code. Hello, I can do this pretty easily. I've done similar kind of work where a PC application communicates with arduino board to perform various functions. If needed, I can send you more details about that work. I've Arduino Mega board which will save cost at both end. I would just need the Relay board and the proposed one is just fine. I don't see any issue with it. I've done PC side application development in QT and Visual Studio. For communicating with arduino, the board is connected to USB which basically creates a Virtual COM port under Windows. So, from application point of view, the communication is over Serial Interface. This is pretty straight forward. I am a experienced programmer with more than 8+ yrs. of development experience. I'll follow all defined coding guidelines. As needed, I'll provide builds for both 32bit and 64bit. I am using Arduini IDE 1.0.5. For communication and support, I am mostly available all through the day till mid night IST. Whenever needed I can coordinate in UK timing as well. I'll provide my support during reviews and all through development phases. For application development, I would need to know: 1. What kind of settings or configuration parameters are needed? E.g. Port settings, relay settings etc. 2. Basic GUI structure. Since you would be providing the reference code, I hope it will answer some of these questions. The bid amount quoted includes cost of Relay board, I've Mega board. Look forward to work with you. I have worked on many Applications which includes Arduino controlling other electronic devices. I have 4 years of experience and believe in good quality work. I am new on the freelancer website and ready to build a relationship with your company/team. I need someone to give me a chance to show my skills and my talent. Please check my portfolio to see my past projects. I already have Arduino to do your work and I have access to every type of electronic sensors and electronic component to do your work. Suggestions: It seems like what you are about to do is all about COM/Serial port which requires a direct wire to the computer. Do you want it wireless? I can make it work both wired using COM/Serial port or wireless using Arduino Ethernet shield and a router. I think it will be more useful to control the relay wirelessly and from mobile devices to if you want afterwards. please look at my portfolio. I can do this within 3 days. It can be done in a day but I want to check for bugs and fix them before delivering. I have visual studio 2013 but can do it with 2012 if that's what you prefer. Also, the relay board you provided is from Hong Kong which means that it will take about 14 to 20 days for the board to arrive. I suggested you order the board from somewhere else or give the project winner overnight shipping money to make the board arrive fast. This is an experience I got from ordering electronic parts from China/Hong Kong. Thanks
