What? The concept you’ll be working on will reduce the time to get an industrial devices, like machinery, compressors and similar, online to the internet of things, from weeks to seconds. We’ll do this to make industrial IoT what it needs to be – easy, fast and value adding. To get IoT devices online, there needs to be a gateway device connected to the IoT device. The connection will often be via an industrial standard like Modbus, Canbus or similar. The prototype must be able to do the following: It must be possible to enter the Modbus, Canbus, Profibus, or similar profile for a given device into the system database. It must be possible to send this profile to the gateway device (supplied from 3rd party) in order for it to start communicating with the industrial device via the given protocol and extract data. The gateway must be able to return the extracted data to a central database. As this is a prototype, we will only target to add 2 devices for proving the concept. Who are we looking for? Backend / firmware developer • Probably an industrial automation / machine engineer • Must be experienced with PLCs and/or industrial device integration (eg Modbus, Canbus etc) • Experience writing plug-ins and apps for embedded systems and Windows CE an advantage • Must be able to code at least basic HTML5, and ideally also Javascript What we offer • An exciting opportunity to work on the very early stages of a transformative concept • The CTO position for the company is open – if we hit it off, it might be you! • Lots of experience in the IoT, the next technical revolution Please note: the company will retain all rights to the work and intellectual property rights derived from the work

Thank you for reviewing. This is very interesting task that has already been done talking to several hundred iot devices. Already have Modbus drivers both as a client,server, master,slave supporting all flavors of Modbus. Used Canbus extensively with adapters for gensets, electrical equipment in O&G apps. Have built over 100 other drivers for various PLCs, industrial protocols. Built several HTML5, Metro UI for scada system front-ends with a end-to-end solution (from sensors to gateway to scada-servers to thick/thin/web/mobile clients. Also heavy user of RDBMS like MS SQL database. Been in PLC/SCADA industry since 1989, working primarily in O&G, rotating machines control. Can show the complete solution in a web meeting. have used several gateways. Let us know the gateway you intend to use. Also have drivers developed for Win CE (using MS compact framework) & win CE.NET. Worked on other embedded systems also. Some work also done in JavaScript as part of Ajax & creating dynamic web page components for O&G scada web apps. Hope to talk more. Glad to help in any capacity.

I started my IT career in the 1980s with machine data collection and analysis for the United States Air Force. Later, I was the principal device driver writer for Bradley Ward, Inc. who had a similar concept of an Interface layer that standardized various PLC-type devices to a "software bus" that interfaced them into the main SCADA system. I wrote drivers for numerous devices including Allen-Bradley PLCs, TI PLCs, Mettler scales, and several proprietary devices for various customers. It sounds like you will be including some hardware in your device standardization layer, and the devices are to interface to that based on standard protocols. If I am reading this correctly, the protocols will be parameterized, and your "device profile" will contain the parameters for that device. These might include the port number, device id, number of sensors, each sensor id, etc. Although your project description doesn't mention it, I was also the writer for the Database Interfaces (on the same structure) that the SCADA system used for data logging. I wrote the interfaces for Oracle, Allbase, flat file formats, and a high-speed binary format I designed myself. I look forward to chatting about the project with you over PM. Murray

I have more than 11 years in embedded systems and wireless protocol stack development in big companies like sysdsoft (acquired by Intel) and Newportmedia (Acquired by Atmel) . I have a bachelor degree in electronics and communications engineering in 2004 and a master of engineering in automatic control in 2015. Here are briefs of my previous work and experience: I am in the last stage with a freelancing job with a UK based company developing a psoc Bluetooth (BLE) device. I designed also a Bluetooth BLE product (ARM cortex M0) that communicate with android and IOS mobile apps and receive control actions and get some readings via Bluetooth smart using a custom profile. I designed and managed development team to develop a web based street lighting control and monitoring system that have linux based ARM9 Gateways which communicate with Atmega nodes in poles from a side and propagate that to the servers on other side via GPRS. I worked on a vehicle tracking product that work like a vehicle black box dealing with different technologies you use Gps, Gprs, GSM,.. I developed in another project a generic gateway that can connect to different sensors and nodes via a variety of protocols like GPS, wifi, bluetooth, zigbee(zwave), RF,...
