I am creating a simple web app that aggregates all of my data from some of the following services: Gmail, Twitter, Google Docs, Google Reader, Facebook, and Flickr. Generally speaking, these can be categorized as Email, Documents, RSS, Photos, and Posts (Twitter/Facebook). I am looking for someone to quickly mock up a UI that organizes the above "items" in chronological order. I was thinking a table/list view similar to the layout on Gmail, Google Reader, etc., but, I’m open to suggestions. Whatever layout you choose, it should be minimalistic, heavy on the white space, and simple. Also, I’m good with rounded corners, drop shadows, minimal gradients, Helvetica and the like.
Below are a couple of other ideas that I'd like to see incorporated somehow:
A toolbar above the list view with a search field, toggle on/off buttons for each type of item, and a date selector.
Each item should have room for: a list of usernames/recipients, the title, and the date.
The item should also include the service's favicon in some way or another. Even an extremely subtle gradient, or shadow, or border around the item (matching the favicons color) would be nice (to help the eye filter by color, etc)
Some way to differentiate between read and unread items. I was thinking bold, but, again, your mock-up...you do what you think looks good.
Also, I imagined that this wouldn't fill the entire browser window and would be limited to about 950px in width; centered in the window, of course.
Ok, so, hopefully, you're still reading, after that list of OCD-esque criteria. Here's how I'm hoping this project will go down; the criteria above is what I'm calling "Phase 1" and Phase 1 actually has 2 parts. The first part involves you creating an extremely quick mockup of what you think the above should look like; it should get across color scheme, font combinations, and the layout of the "items" as a minimum. This part is so I can see the type of work you do, and can, for all intents and purposes, be considered basic spec work. However, I'm willing to compensate you for your time, because no one likes to work for free. I'm thinking $50 is fair, but, let me know if you feel otherwise. So then, after I get a couple of samples from (hopefully) various designers, I'll select someone to finalize their design, add in a few extra steps not mentioned above, and basically make it a slick, intuitive UI. We can discuss pricing for this, but, I'm willing to do an hourly rate, flat fee, or a mix. And then, it'd be on to Phase 2... I don't have the details fully nailed down yet, but, this'll be pretty big.
Thanks for looking and I hope you're interested! Feel free to email with any questions or concerns you have.
