Hello, I am a C developer employed in IoT industry and have worked a product that used LoRaWAN for communication. The product I developed was a battery-powered water-meter to be used in residential water supplies. So, it required specification that was very similar to your project. The device recorded digital pulses from a water meter, went to sleep in between, woke up and TXed the pulse count on LoRaWAN at regular intervals and went to sleep again. I have used LoRa in both ABP and OTAA mode and connected it to a properietary LoRaWAN network server (just a matter of keys that can be set by user).
