A project of making simple modifications on an existing C++ program that models DLA (Diffuse Limited Aggregation). No knowledge of DLA is required as the modifications needed to the program is detailed precisely. The exercise is aimed at beginner C++ programming so would be an easy task for any C++ programmer. An information sheet with the needed work will be provided.
The program provided grows a cluster of blocks on a grid by selecting a random grid point and if that grid point is adjacent to a existing block then a block will be created there and so on, creating a fractal. The exercise is separated into 3 sections:
1. Creating a switch that will cause the program to make a block if the point chosen is diagonal to another block.
2. Modify code so that pressing a button will cause the program to print the number of blocks and the radius of the cluster of blocks. Then modify code so that as the cluster grows, it automatically prints the number of blocks and radius to a file in intervals.
3. Modify code so that instead of a block definitely being created when the point chosen is adjacent or diagonal to another block, there is instead a probability for the block to be created. The new algorithm used to do this must be explained and described in detail.
Comments and descriptions of the lines of code added or modified are required.
