We need to hire someone who will be able to accurately research the average price for hotels by country (60 countries), month of travel, self-catering/bed and breakfast and star rating and input the price within excel tables.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE DATA TABS ON THE SPREADSHEET
1. Open your browser and open up the search pages for [login to view URL] or [login to view URL]
2. Type in the relevant country within the search bar and select a date within the weekday (i.e. Monday to Friday) of the relevant month e.g. January 2019 for a one night stay in a room for 2 people. If there are over 250 results for one country, narrow the search down to the most popular city within that country e.g. for Morocco this would be Marrakesh.
3. You will be provided a list of results. Sort the results by price from lowest to highest. Take the average of the first five results and input the figure into the first tab HOTELS BY COUNTRY (BASE FIGURE) within the relevant month and country
4. Next filter the results to only show 4 star hotels and above. Calculate the difference between the BASE PRICE and the lowest price found for 4 star hotels and divide this difference by the number of stars i.e. divide by 4. Input this figure into the second Tab HOTELS BY LUXURY
5. Remove the filter and now place another filter to only show those properties which include bed and breakfast priced lowest to highest. Input the difference between the BASE PRICE and the lowest price found into the last tab HOTELS BY BOARD
6. Remove all filters and now search the same country and same month but for a date on the weekend. List prices from lowest to highest and insert the difference between the BASE PRICE and the lowest weekend price within the database (only if there is a difference, otherwise input 0)
7. Repeat all 6 steps for the same country for the remaining months in the year e.g. February to December (for the months which we have yet to pass, please rely on the 2018 price i.e. July 2018-December 2018)
8. Move on to the next country in the list and repeat the above steps.
