Hello, I am looking for help on a Ruby on Rails project. I am an amateur rails developer, so I am trying (but slightly failing) to build an instant messaging service as part of an application. I am reaching out to you for one of two things: either rebuilding the messaging service from the ground up, or helping me along with the current code I have. Here are the specifications: - User 1 submits a message - The message is then displayed in the chat box - The message is saved in the database - User 2 (in a different browser) loads the message just sent by User 1 without refreshing the page I would love to rebuild this from the ground up with a nice clean Gem that could handle this. But let me explain my current process. Then you can tell me quotes for both options. Currently my process is as follows - User 1 executes .click() JQuery function and it inserts the message into the HTML DOM - In the same .click() function there is an AJAX POST function that sends the message to a controller, which with then saves it in the database - I set a timeout for every 2 seconds that calls another AJAX function that is a GET method - This AJAX function checks if there are any new messages, if so it retrieves them and inserts them into the HTML DOM My current problem is laid out in the SO post here: [login to view URL] My budget is $30.
