1 Brief Description We need an experienced and reliable systems manager and programmer to work on a part time contract basis initially. The job requires - Management of Internet service - IBM DB2 + IBM Websphere + java servlet , JavaScript+ XML extensive programming experience essential - Software development. System is a mature system and developments will be mainly small enhancements. This includes customisation for customers. - Typically we may require 2-3 hours per month in minor amends. In addition projects may involve 10-20 hours and there may be 4-5 per years. - Can work from home - most contact will be by phone / email 2 Profile - Suit self employed or small company - Significant experience and skill in IBM DB2, IBM Websphere, Java Servlet programming, HTML, JavaScript, XML Windows 2000 server expertise: - IBM HTTP Server (Apache), - Reliable and who can thoroughly test all work. - References - Our clients include major financial institutions and IT companies we need strong references of skill and ability to work on self employed basis. We expect thorough test of all modifications before release. - Use of PC Anywhere for most server work and updates 3 Company and application Background - News and market intelligence DB - Original application written by IBM - Around 30,000 items in DB with around 100 added per week - Generic site and tailored corporate sites for larger customers - Move to integration with corporate intranets - We give service guarantees which must be met ˆ uptime and frequency of updates - Customers include some of worlds largest and best known companies - We are a small company, currently transforming our corporate structure. We are a virtual company working from our own homes. You would be reporting to the two main shareholders and directors. 4 Detail of work - Person is sole IT resource - General maintenance approx 3 hours a hours per week - Minor customisation e.g. new customers, minor upgrades 4-12 hours per month - More significant development projects Approximate 1 per quarter perhaps 20-30 hours each - System largely, but not completely, documented. - Handover from current holder of position ˆ phone / email 5 Hours / Payment - Project work on an agreed per hour rate. - We would pay for initial familiarisation time
