I know Xero is one of the complicated API. As there are different authentications are available for different user's types. Such as Public, Private and Partner. Over and above one of its critical feature is LockDate. Which does not allow to synchronize the previous invoice of that date. So synchronise the XERO to server can be accomplished in two ways: 1) Individual invoices need to be set in a cron. Suppose there are more than thousand invoices. So in this case, we can grouped 50 invoices together and sync them as an unit with cron. Then fire it after a certain time of interval(e.g. 10 minutes) in background mode. As associated every invoice have an unique id. So already synced invoice can not be synced again. So better, we use each user record as a single unit, such as use a string rather than a .CSV. 2) We could zip the .CSV file before syntonisation with server and then unzipped it after finished synchronisation. Though we can speed up the syncing by changing some implementation to your iOS code as well on server side code. But on iOS, this is how I do it, and it works very well. This is also pretty much how Apple does it in its code examples: Load my feed in the background, i.e. on a different thread. NSURLConnection will take care of that. For each successfully parsed entity, insert it into the server record. Put up an activity view to let users know I am loading. Once loading and parsing is finished - save.
