I have worked with Cisco 5508 Wireless LAN Controller. Fundamentally, the task is to define SSIDs, associate the LWAPs to the WLC, and then assign the LWAPs to groups. Once the LWAP is assigned to a group specific SSIDs can be associated to that set of LWAPs. The Cisco Documentation is a bit confusing how this works but generally the group configuration overrides the SSID and the individual LWAP configuration.
