The following bid request is being modified to use the Symbol PPT2700 device instead of the Symbol SPT1700. The PPT2700 is a Windows CE device programmable in C requiring Embedded Visual Tools (available from Microsoft page) and CE and Symbol SDKs (available from their respective web pages. Both will be required eventually, but the PPT2700 will be the first. Please substitute PPt2700 for SOT1700 whereever it occurs in the below request. Using the Symbol SPT1700 with its built-in 2D barcode scanner and the optional mag stripe reader, write the Identification program to read both barcoded and mag stripe encoded licenses. Once read, the following information should be parsed and displayed: Name Address City,St,Zip License # Date of birth Expiration Date Age (computed, not parsed) The Identification program will also be able to recognize invalid mag stripes or barcodes and display a message to that affect and sound an audible alert. Other alert messages and displays can be caused by the computed age of under 18 or 21 and a bad read, i.e., the input data makes no sense. The program should also have the ability to save all data to a file and upload that data in a defined format to a PC, presumably using Hotsync. This data is to be imported into an existing program that we will make available. Our preference for the language for this project is Basic, although I don't know if it's supported by the SPT1700. Second choice is the C language. We currently have the executable of an SPT1700 program that performs most of the tasks detailed above which we can provide. However, the programmer stole the source code.
