Spyware Surfing Bot (interesting project)

Have you ever heard of brightmail? or a "honeypot" ? They are both methods of catching spammers. Basically they just let spammers send mail into them, and because they've never subscribed to anything they know that anything sent in is spam! it's a simple but brilliant concept. I would like to do something similar with spyware. We have a system here with Windows XP Home and no patches installed. It is a perfectly, pristine and clean system. We will install your application and then set a system restore point. What we would like to have written is an application that controls internet explorer and essentially spiders the internet (using internet explorer) starting from a url that is served up by our server. IE will be set to the very lowest security settings, it will accept all active x prompts and accordingly, as it surfs it should theoretically collect a sample of virtually every piece of spyware/adware/malware out there that installs via active x. Now, prior to spidering, the application needs to make a snapshot of the registry and of the filesystem. Caching will be turned off, history will be turned off, there will be nothing in the favorites and no toolbar will be enabled. Then, after an active-x install has occurred and completed, the system compares the list of running processes with the list of processes that was running on the pristine system, it compares the filesystem, it compares the registry. Any modifications/additions/subtractions to any of the above could accordingly only have been a result of the active x that was installed. Your application then generates a report indicating what has been added/removed/modified along with the url that the active x was launched from and then POSTS that report to a php script on our server. Lastly your application causes windows to restore itself back to the system restore point that we made prior to running your application. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables): a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform win xp
