Hi everyone!
I need a good IT troubleshooter who knows how to set up WHM/Cpanel on a RedHat 9.0 Server. There is quite a bit to do - I will help where I can, but I am not too adapt at Linux as of yet.
Right now, I have a server set up and running WHM/Cpanel (all set up) but when I installed RedHat 9.0, I installed every package available (not just for the server) and I am unsure if everything else should be removed. The server lost the ability to have a GUI for RedHat itself after Cpanel was installed, so working one on one on the machine has gotten difficult for me to do. I can only seem to ssh or FTP in, but cannot open RedHat as normal (desktop doesn't show - only terminal does).
I have a Static IP that I am using, however I am using a Custom DNS from [login to view URL] to create the nameservers for my domains. They also have MX entries that I am unsure if I have set up correctly. I was wondering if each domain that I would be hosting would need this service, of if Cpanel would work this out with only one domain pointed - I think each domain has to have a Custom DNS in order to work. I would need to know how to set these up properly so email comes through for all domains.
This is where I am confused about the WHM settings. If I am using [login to view URL] for their nameservers, would these need to go into the primary and secondary nameservers on WHM? Would the server work properly this way?
I would also be interesed in setting up IPTABLES and possibly another firewall (I think there was one that was free called AFI (?) Need to check on this) and I haven't updated any of the software yet - including RedHat 9.0 - which I would also need.
I also have X-Controller, Fantastico and Fantastico Deluxe that would need to be installed.
Let me know if your interested and any experience you might have with setting up these types of systems. I will try to help you the best I can - but most of this is "over my head" LOL!!!
Thanks everyone! Hope to work with you soon!
