Based on my experience in Wordpress and similar CMS, it is very difficult and rigid if you want to freely expand your project, like increasing user base. I would rather want a DB agnostic software that can run on Heroku and similar cloud platforms and use ORM rather than tying to MySQL. I use grunt, ng-annotate, uglify, minifiers to reduce the memory footprint of javascript. As you can see I am inline with most of the latest efforts in software. I have websites that run on Heroku and Amazon EC2. They are free and are very technology friendly.
