I am familiar with ASTM steel design standard. I work with Revit since 2013, so 4 years, but in your case (shop drawing) I strongly recommend Advance Steel, it is an Autodesk software, who works with BIM (so can be opened in Revit), but was developed just for steel detailing. Hello, I have 6 years experiance in preparing of steel shop drawings and 4 years experiance with revit. I have experiance in design of single story steel building and different steel pants. But I have to mention you that in revit you can't modify steel shop drawings. Revit purpose is not that. Best regards.

Hello, I'm a 6 years experienced Revit Expert and certified professional and Instructor from Autodesk. I would recommend detailing the job on Advance steel or Tekla as Revit isn't a steel detailing Environment, that's to mean you would put much time and effort to achieve the required results in Revit whereas it's easier in the specialty detailing software like Tekla or Advance steel.
