Sound detection circuit

Greetings, I have the required experience of Embedded, DSP and amplifier design which is what exactly is required to design this circuit. Please have a look at my portfolio for the same. Though the hardware is straight forward (uC + Microphone sensor+amp + Power source if any), implementing a digital filter to accurately sense the sound even in ambient noise in < 5ms in a GPP uC makes it involved. A DSP can be used to simplify that part but it will increase BOM cost and complexity. The test environment can be created from a PC speaker and noise can also be simulated + naturally added for testing. I have all the set-up for building and proving the prototype to you. Hi, I would like to know your end application i.e., how the output states from the circuit boards are being used. You mention beat and metronome so I guess it is a musical application and could be a tempo visualizer or synchronizer. Then you mention any frequency. For a FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) system a tone decoder detects the input frequency via a PLL and gives an output when the PLL locks onto the input frequency. Beat detection on the other hand works bit differently, it is not only the frequency but also the envelope of the sound (Fast Attack) that is used to detect beats. Another important aspect is the tempo (repeat rate of the frequency) I guess you are making the app for the tablet most of which gives horrible sound output, add to that the ambient noise and the circuit may not remain simple or cheap.
