Head of web development (Video On Demand)

[login to view URL] is seeking an entrepreneurial web technician to get involved with the launch of our new video-on-demand service – exclusively dedicated to award-winning specialist cinema. We are looking for a resourceful and motivated technician in the UK to help test and launch the UK’s first VOD website dedicated to award-winning independent film. [login to view URL] allows customers to download copy-protected WMV feature films in DVD-quality on a rental or purchase basis. The Company recently won a development award & funding from NESTA and the National Film and Television School, already have the backing of Microsoft, and the support and guidance of very successful industry players – who are keen to rapidly expand the business. You will be working alongside our existing US technician to refine the existing site, integrate a new interactive member’s area, and develop new functionalities on a permanent basis. Core skills must include advanced HTML, PHP, SQL Server knowledge and e-commerce experience. The successful candidate will be working closely with our Chief Web Developer in the US and the UK-based company directors to (amongst other things):  Integrate a secure, personalised, accounting portal - providing real time revenue statistics and custom reporting functionality.  Refine and streamline the existing site code.  Integrate a new member’s area complete with community features  Develop and test new functionalities on a permanent basis. Knowledge of Javascript & Flash design/integration is also preferable but not essential. Although we are a start-up, we can pay a fairly reasonable wage during this time (£1500 - £2000 pcm), you can work remotely if necessary, and there is an extremely strong possibility of continued employment after this date as well as a significant equity stake in the company.
