six player Kinect game

Executive Summary: Client is requesting an application using the XBox Kinect preferably attached to the game console but also could use a PC as well. Client needs to have the Kinect recognize 6 players simultaneously. Introduction: A client's Public Relations Department is looking for an innovative way to celebrate a ground breaking for new construction of a Branch. Looking to create the XBox Kinect experience where 6 employees will each get a player. The virtual players themselves will have in their posession a shovel. The players will be immobile they just need to re-create on the screen the digging actions the employees will be simulating. Background: Ground Breaking ceremonies have always been very traditional with an executive and a nice shiny shovel taking that first step in new construction and symbolizes a new beginning and an event for celebration. Client wants to present this in a non-traditional format. The client does not have a preference whether it is PC or game console. It is more about which will perform the best. Scope and Purpose: Will be a more memorable event showing the client's innovation and foreward thinking utilizing a new technology Methods and Instrumentation: Developer would create the Kinect Experience utilizing the best tools available to them. We will provide the developer with the graphics assets needed. We will also provide a mockup to help the Developer in an effort to help illustrate what the client desires. Developer will recommend hardware i.e. game console, or PC. user experience will be something like this: 6 game "players" will line up in front of the Kinect and sign in by waving their hands. Once Recognized the virtual player will have a shovel appear in their hands and the virtual player's will match the movements of the players torso area just to show that they are recognized. Virtual players will stand still in one spot. Event manager will signal everyone to start digging. Players will begin their digging motion. Players will see dirt being dug out and placed in a virtual pile from their digging actions. After the digging takes place their maybe like graffiti floating through or something on the screen after the ceremonial dig Virtual players will include women and men of all races where the attire may have the client's logo on there. Limitations, Questions and Issues: This event could be held outside. What does this do to the possibilities of this being a succesful application? What precautions would need to be made with the optics of the Kinect in mind? What hardware do we use? Is it possible to have 6 characters? If not do we need another pc or console? If so how many? Does this increase the applications user experience? How long would you need for development? Should we consider a different platform than the XBox Kinect?
