Silverlight 2 Program Needed

I am trying to learn what is possible with Silverlight 2 inside of a web browser. I would like for someone to show me how to do the following: On a server, there will be a Client Socket Program (VB Solution #1). It will send messages to a Server Socket Program (VB Solution #2). Each time a message is sent from the client socket to the server socket, the server socket should also send the message to a Silverlight program running in the browser. Ideally, I would like for the Silverlight program to respond to an event that is fired when the Server Socket receives a message. But I am not sure what Silverlight is capable of doing as far as responding to events. If this is not possible using Silverlight, I want to know what options do exist to sync the messages that exist in the list box on the Server Socket with the list box in the Silverlight program. When the Silverlight programs receives the message, it should also save the message to a text file on the client machine where the browser is running. And, the Socket Program will save the messages received to a text file. See the diagram attached to this bid request.
