Abstract There is a number of desktop applications with the functionality we need. An example of this functionality is MED (Macmillan English Dictionary). While working in background MED allows to retrieve distinct words near/underneath the cursor (mouse pointer) from the documents opened in MS Word and from HTML pages opened in Internet Explorer. That is, while user navigates the text, MED pronounces the words near/underneath the cursor. Project description For this project we do not need text-to-speech functionality. We just need the coder to show us the way of obtaining the words near/underneath the cursor from an active application while "our" application is running in background. For this the coder will create a simple test application that shows the words from the text near/underneath the cursor in popup window. Appart from this popup window the program might not have any GUI itself. The popup window can have any look. The application should be written in C++ with any version of either MS VC++ or Borland C++ Builder / Borland C++ IDE. The code should not have any dependencies upon any 3d party code/libraries. That is, the code dealing with the algorithm itself should be based on pure Win32 API calls and possible C-runtime calls. The framework of the application can, of course, be based on either MFC/ATL/WFC/etc in case of MS VC++ environment and on VCL/OWL in case of Borland C++ Builder / Borland C++ IDE. The application should work under all versions of Windows starting from Windows 95. If the algorithm requires a standalone Windows hooks library, please go ahead and develop such a library, as long as the library code has no dependencies on any 3d party code. Please keep in mind that we need just the algorithm itself. We will incorporate your code into our application. Happy bidding!
