## Deliverables Language we need to use: C++ ( we do not want to use any already pre-made pieces for the app, it needs to be written from scratch ) Requirements: The sidebar app needs to work with WIN versions: WinXP, Win2000, Win98, WinVista, Win2003 and Browser versions: IE7, IE6, IE5, Fx, Moz, Safari for Win and Opera What we need to get done: we need a application ( this is a downloadable application ) What it does: a) Lets users search the web ( using our own search engine site ) right from their browser. b) It also blocks pop up ads. c) In order for the search toolbar to search the search engine website we need to build a search engine website that would feed all results from an XML search feed that we will provide. Please read below for more information. How to test it (You need to have XP, with IE 6 or IE 7 installed to test this version of the app as an example) 1) Download the app 2) Open a brand new browser window ( it needs to be a brand new browser window ) 3) Under the address bar you will notice a search toolbar using which you can make searches ( all searches will be redirected to a search engine website searchsitedirect, which has an XML feed it is using that it feeds 100% of the search results from ) to uninstall the app, please go to your "add and remove" feature in control panel and choose to uninstall "PopUpBlocker" or ?€œSearchSiteDirect?€ Stage 1 1) Create a search engine that works by feeding 100% of its results from a provided XML search feed ( example is below ). (Another words we need to clone searchsitedirect with the front page and search result page). 2) Create a Search Toolbar that lets users make searches using the search engine website. Another words we need to duplicate - 3) Create a pop up blocker feature inside of the search toolbar - Stage 2 ( only after stage 1 is completed ) We need to create a custom looking search toolbar for a specific (second) website. Toolbar look ( after you install it on your PC ) : Toolbar features a search box ( just like a clone from stage 1 of searchsitedirect ) Every time a person makes a search via the toolbar, they get send to a search result page that is branded with the look and feel of the website. We will create designs for toolbars and websites for the for stage 1 and stage 2. ===== *Statistics* When the application is ready and working we need to have a statistics area that would give us information on how the application is performing. Information we need to register and display: 1) How many downloads we receive ( by day, week, month and range date ) 2) How many installations we receive ( by day, week, month and range date ) 3) How many uninstallations we receive via "Add and Remove" feature ( by day, week, month and range date ) 4) How many uninstallations we receive via another app taking us out ( Norton Anti-Virus or any other app, another words anything that is not going thru Add and Remove ) ( by day, week, month and range date ) 5) How many searches we get ( by day, week, month and range date ) 6) How many clicks we get ( by day, week, month and range date ) 7) Day Performance Report - ( example: if we are receiving 1,000 downloads every day for a period of 30 days, by the end of 30 days we will receive 30,000 downloads. Using Day Performance Report we would like to go back and check how many searches and how many clicks downloads only from 7th day delivered on 7th day, 8th day, 9th day and so on. ) 8) Statistics of operating systems that people are on ( example: WinXP - 20%, Win2000 - 10%, Win98 - 10%, WinVista - 10%, Win2003 - 10%) 9) Statistics of internet browsers that people are on ( example: IE7 - 20%, IE6 - 10%, IE5 - 10%, Fx - 10%, Moz - 10%, Safari for Win - 10%, Opera - 10% ) ===== Thank you
