What I need, is a Palm media player that has dual subtitle support.
You may use tcpmp as the starting point, you may use GPL code for this project. You may also choose, to use Tribeworks iShell mobile to code the project. If you have another idea for doing it, that will be considered too.
I need this for language learning. The student will be able to play a movie, displaying both the russian and english subtitles.
Since the screen on a palm is small, I think it would be ideal to display the subtitles below the movie window, not grafted on top of the movie. piloc or intertype can be used for the russian fonts.
DVD subtitles are graphics files without any need to support 'fonts'. You may choose this method, or a text method.
Different movie players like powerdvd or mv2player, have implemented their own proprietary ways of displaying captions and subtitles.
For this project, it is programmers choice. All I need delivered is a palm movie player that can display dual subtitles, giving the user the option to display zero, one or two subtitles. The format for the subtitles or how you accomplish this goal is entirely up to you.
