I need to duplicate the sum command in SysV UNIX using nawk/ksh. I have the syntax scanning/options code done. Check file named syntax in the attached file. Also, Decimal to Hex and Hex to Decimal scripts are provided to be used for the algorithm calculations. Check the txt file for details on how to get this done.
Script description: Sum2 calculates and prints a 16-bit checksum for the namedfiles, and also prints the number of 512 byte blocks in each file. It is typically used to look for bad spots, or to validate files communicated over some transmission line. The option -r causes an alternate algorithm to be used in computing the checksum (namely, the BSD algorithm.) read the [login to view URL] for more details.
I am giving details how to get this done, step by step
