I am running a PHP-based ad campaign management system that issues Link URLs ([www.mysite.com/campaignID=123][1]) which are links that when clicked pull up certain landing pages depending on the campaignID code.
When I want to run a banner campaign on [login to view URL], for example, I need to send them a banner ([login to view URL]) and the Link URL ([www.mysite.com/campaignID=123][1]) to be associated with the banner. The publisher then takes the banner, loads it into their ad server, and then links the campaign URL.
The new process should ideally involve only sending one Link URL to the publisher.? Whichever [login to view URL] I want to run on [login to view URL] should be encoded in the link and served directly from my own server from my msql database.
This way I can change banners on my end without needing to send the gif to the publisher and wait until they get around to loading it into their adserver.
## Deliverables
I am running a PHP-based Internet Lead Management System (LMS) that handles advertising campaigns I run on third party (publisher) websites.? This application issues dynamic campaigns, whereby a campaign is defined as a landing page URL ([www.mysite.com/campaign=123)][2] that has encoded in it the name of a creative ([login to view URL], [login to view URL], etc.), a specific landing page ([login to view URL], [login to view URL], etc.), and a specific publisher (acme1, acme2, etc). The application further stores all form registrations that occur on my [login to view URL] pages, then filters these registrations according to some custom filters, and then distributes these registrations to a number of recipients that are also defined in the LMS workflow.
All components of these campaigns, meaning all creative, landing page URLs, and publisher names, are stored in a mysql database.
The current process involves sending to a publisher a banner creative, e.g [login to view URL], and the campaign URL ([www.mysite.com/campaign=123)][2] to be associated with the banner. The publisher then takes the banner, loads it into his ad server, and links it to the campaign URL.
The new process should involve only sending one link URL to the publisher.? The specific [login to view URL] should be encoded in the link and served directly from my own adserver. The reason for this change is that every time I need to change a banner I need to send a new [login to view URL] to the publisher, and then wait until they replace the old gif with the new gif. If the [login to view URL] is served directly by me, I can change the image on the fly, without having to wait for the publisher.
This project is to seamlessly integrate an ad-server into the current Lead Management System. If this is too difficult, I am open to suggestions of a stand-alone ad server that “cooperates?? with the existing application. I am aware of OpenX and similar open source solutions which might be a great way to accelerate this project.
Please include your experience with building or configuring/integrating ad servers and/or lead management systems in your reply. ?
