I wish to have a means of preventing single IP addresses from hitting individual pages on my site excessively. Problem has been single IP addresses running up the script execution and cpu usage figures that my shared hosting supplier cuts my account off after their arbitrary limit has been reached. My requirement is that if a particular IP address is seen more than x times in y period then it is prevented from further using my site resources. My site uses mainly html and php on a litespeed shared hosting server. Happy to consider checking on individual pages perhaps a php include, or whatever you might suggest as a convenient way to achieve this.

Hi, The thing I guess you are facing is Denial of Service Attack or DDoS Attack. Generally, it is performed by competitors to make a bad impression about your products online. The terminology is not as simple as it looks like. Before taking steps, I need to see the logs of your server. Both Http/Https/FTP,. Though HTTP / HTTPS will be enough. I'll need also server info like I/O, bandwidth, hosting provider etc. I'm open to any kind of discussion. Don't hesitate to knock me :) Regards Delowar

Hi! It seems to be possible to fix it with fail2ban. It is a great tool that permits you, filter and drop attacking IPs depending on some configured things.
