I have a directory that contains a set of nested directories that go several levels deep ( usually 3 levels ). In the very last sub directory there are some files, one is an XML file. I need all XML files moved to a one level directory (pre-determined), and renamed with a sequential prefix. All XML's have the same name ([login to view URL]), which is why I need them renamed with a unique prefix. The script must be able to run on UBUNTU server. I would prefer PHP code that I can modify later - a PHP script that executes a terminal command is fine.

Hello! Could you please tell me, how do you need that predefined prefix to be set in the script? I assume there'll be something that also contains some dir name or something from the path, since you said all those files have the same name, because that way you can make sure files don't overlap. Moreover, I need that there are several checks to be performed, including one that the destination file don't already exist, or permissions on files etc. I plan on building a PHP script that you'll be able to hook into a cron job on your server.
