I would like someone to choose an inexpensive router, that can be programmed. The router software will need to Intercept HTTP requests, parse the URL, and test against locally stored keyword whitelist and blacklist. The lists will need to be updated hourly (if changes were made) from our server. Then either allow (get the response from the requested server normally) or Block (send an http redirect to the browser to a new URL (blockpage) based on the keywords. The first level of filtering is at the dns server.... domain level, if we want the domain blocked, we return a our own ip instead of the real ip. Our ip will display a block page for any domain or url. The second level of filtering will be whitelist and blacklist on the router, regularly updated from a server api All blocked and allowed URL's need to be logged for monitoring and so that over-blocking can be resolved quickly. These logs will be parsed and sent to a remote mysql server. This router will need a new web interface to access features and brand for our service. You will need to be very familiar with programming , firmware update, and such, for a router.

This is definitely too much for a low cost device. Should be done on the server. HW: One factory in China, the router of which I uased already for my own parental control, sells for about 25$ a suitable device, free of factory. Not very attractive, though, a real "White Box". However, OEM branding starting at 1000pcs., OR supply of customized enclosure.

Hi, If you can provide me server then I can install and configure Firewall for you which can not only block website on keywords basis it can also block website on types basis (i.e. gaming, casino and etc.). If you can't provide server then we can go for full hardware base firewall which will do all the required tasks. For that I will need some more details like how many client will use it and etc.. I have more then 4 years of experience in this field..
