Web Promotion & SEO

I have a newly launched UK ecommerce site selling soft home furnishings. The site is based on Oscommerce and we have customised it. We are now in the process of working out a strategy and steps required for promoting the website to potential shoppers. At present the site has been spidered by Google, Yahoo and MSN - however the site and pages are not completely optimised. We have however identified a few contributions that would help us make our page title/keywords etc more relevant by picking up terms from the product descriptions. What I require is either a freelance consultant or a small company based in India - ideally Mumbai but location is not main criteria. I am looking for solid proof of SEO success achieved for their clients /projects. Based on my limited understanding of SE I think we require the following at a minimum - - Get site listed in clean directoriues in the relevant sectors. - Baclk links to be highly relevant and will be approved individually by me - Will be open to reciprocal links if convinced by chosen SEO consultant of the merits of doing so. - Pages must be at least a PR2 - Sites/Pages must Not be Banned from any of the major Search Engines - No Black Hat, No Tricks,No link farms, FFA's or any automated linking systems - All links must be on separate IPs, which must be indexed by major search engines - Must not use software. Work must be done manually - Must be stationary links that are not removed once campaign is over. - Provide a list of all sites/pages or a screen shot of the page showing the link. - Bidder must be a competent link builder. The above is based on my limited understanding and I expect the consultant/s to guide me along the Web promotion path. I am also doing a little bit of Adwords on my own to understand it better and we might get the chosen consultant to handle this for us. I am hoping to appoint and find someone who will turn into a long term partner for me as we have other ecommerce projects in the pipeline.
