if my website was hacked, what should i do?

It can be very hard to locate these hidden backdoors ( the code added to a page is just a few bytes, you may not even see a change in the file sizes). If a backup is not available customer can try to remove files yourself or consult professional malware cleaning service. - scan local computer with good antivirus, antispyware programs and clean bad programs. - keep the software up-to-date with vendors/developers, and seek their support/forums for any known vulnerabilities/fixes/workarounds available. - If customer is using third party themes/templates/plugins, he must be sure to use secured themes, plugins and templates. - Customer should update all of their scripts and open source applications are of the latest version available and delete all unwanted scripts.
