Hello After reading your requirements, I could tell that what you're trying to do is not really the best way to do it ... If we discard the "-" or "." there might be people searching for complete SKUs (part numbers) and then they won't find their items ... there are 2 ways of doing this search, and this also depends on the number of items you have in your store: the REGEX method and the FULLTEXT method ... the fulltext is already optimized in mysql to return values based on their relevance, but it matches full words while the REGEX one matches the exact input string. There are also some db changes that need to be done so that we can get a bit of performance boost during the search ... If you're willing to we can test both methods and you'll then let me know which one you think is better for your shop. Regards Dragos
